Psalm 95:1-6 King James Version (KJV) O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. Sunday was total praise to the one and only God. Praise and worship went beyond words and feelings. It was a totally intimate time with our Lord and Savior.
Worship defines our relationship with Jesus. It was a direct conversation between us and God. In doing this, it shows our lives to be a true reflection of God, from the inside out. Scriptures: Genesis 22:9-12 9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. Apostle-Elect Lewis Fisher, Jr began speaking to the congregation about Abraham. He reminded us that Abraham had to make critical decisions in his life that led to seven separations. Apostle spoke to us today about the seventh separation. This was Abraham’s son Isaac. In the seventh separation, God reveals himself to Abraham based upon his obedience to separate from the son of his love. He asked us the question; Would you rather have “The Promise of God” or “The God of the Promise?” Isaac was the son of the promise. In other words, God had promised Abraham a son. God asked Abraham to offer his only son as a sacrifice. Abraham would withhold nothing from God, not even his son because he loved the God of the promise more. An angel of the Lord called out to Abraham and told him to stop. God knew at that point that he fears him. God provided a ram for sacrifice. This place became known as Jehovah Jireh, “The Lord will see, the Lord will provide.” We know today because he is our Jehovah Jireh. He is the one and only provider. We must hold on to our faith and seek the giver of the promises, who is God.
Deuteronomy 8:2: And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Psalms 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Apostle-Elect Dr. Lewis Fisher, Jr addressed the congregation with the title: “The Year of Alignment”. Apostle wanted to speak to our hearts as this is the year of alignment. In 2018, we remember where he brought us but in 2019 walk with a vision in front of us. We must continue to move forward and not look backwards. We must come in alignment with God’s word. If we are out of alignment, we can’t experience God’s benefits. The word will keep us in alignment with God. Apostle-Elect Fisher highlighted our three guiding principles:
