God, The First Option

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
2 Kings 1:1-17
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3 But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
4 Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5 And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6 And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15 And the angel of the Lord said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

Apostle Lewis Fisher, Jr began speaking to the congregation about “God, The First Option.”  What does it mean?  How does this apply to our lives? Often, we search ways to answer our trials and tribulations.  When we get in trouble God is not our first option.  God’s formula is that when anything happens in our lives, seek him first.  Like most of us, God became an option when we had no other place to turn.  God wants to be our first option.  God said seek him first.  Once he becomes a priority for us then everything in our lives becomes a priority for him.  Once we make bad choices it takes a lot to get us out.  That’s why God told us to seek him first.  We should be at the point now where we only want God.  In 2 kings 1:1-17, Ahaziah was a servant of God.  He sent someone to ask Baalzebub if he was going to recover.  He was a servant who didn’t put God first.  He asked an idol god over the God whom he knew if he was going to recover.   Ahaziah continued to send messengers to answer if he was going to recover, but they were consumed by fire.  An angel of God told Elijah to go down and be not afraid.  So Elijah got up and asked the questions, “Is there no God in Israel to enquire of his word?  And he told him that he would surely die.  This is just an example of a man of God who didn’t make God his first option.

Invites you to join us for the Public Affirmation of Apostle-Elect Dr. Lewis Fisher, Jr. To The Sacred Office of Apostle - January 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm - At Blanchard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church

The officiant for this service is Apostle Ezekiel Murrell Jr., from Great Joy Worship Center located in Beaufort NC, and the speaker is Apostle Willie Murray, Senior Pastor of the God's City of Refuge Church located in Newport NC, and visionary of the Covenant Pastors Fellowship.

We look forward to your presence and helping us to rejoice in the Lord, as we give God the entire Honor and the Praise for all the Great things He is doing, has done, and continue to do in our lives.

The principle of this public affirmation is set forth in the word of the Lord:
In the scriptures:  Numbers 27:18-23, says, "And the Lord said unto Moses, take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him.
19) And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
20) And thou shalt put some of thine honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
21) And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
22) And Moses did as the Lord commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before the congregation.
23) And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses."

Deuteronomy 34:9, "And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel harkened unto him and did as the Lord commanded Moses."

Come out and be a witness to this blessed ceremony.

God’s blessings,
Minister Urania Harrell

A Word From My Heart

Apostle-Elect Dr. Lewis Fisher, Jr spoke to the congregation from his heart.  Apostle emphasized, Priests that were holy before God, were instructed by God to bless the people.  They would say, “The Lord bless and keep you; The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).  These are the exact words that God commanded his Priest to say over the people. Apostle said this over the congregation today.

Apostle said that the Spirit of the Lord has set up shop in his heart.  "All that God is doing in my heart I am held responsible, not only to preaching it,  but first and foremost to be living it."

His hope is for us to experience God, because he wants to communicate God’s trust to us.  Jesus said I came to give my life. If you love God, you must love his people. Apostle said that he loves us because he’s connected to God.  He reminded us that God gives us Pastors that are after his heart. They are to feed us with knowledge and understanding. True love endures all!
