God took action to save us, even before we knew we needed saving. God did not ask man to agree with Him, nor aid Him in making redemption possible. By definition, a Bi-lateral agreement is a contract between parties in which both parties are bound by the exchange of promises.
You see my friend, He did not say, man, if you do this, I will do this or that to redeem you. The Omnipotent God decided that all on His own, praise God! He is the self-existent God that decided man was worth saving even before man thought he needed saving.
How dare we carry ourselves in such an arrogant way, to think that we will use God only when we need Him?
