In the book of II Kings 3, we find that Jehoshaphat (King of Judah) was in alliance with Jehoram (King of Israel) to fight against the King of Moab. While they were in the wilderness of Edom they could find no water for the their armies. Then King Jehoshaphat asked this question, "Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him?" It was told that Elisha the prophet was near. King Jehoshaphat replied, "The word of the Lord is with him." So both kings went down to meet with Elisha.
Elisha's prophetic word as recorded in II Kings 3:16-18, "And he said, thus saith the Lord, make this valley full of ditches. 17) For thus saith the Lord, ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beast. 18) And this is but a light thing in the sight of the Lord: He will deliver the Moabites also into your hand."
Applied to the Believer: God is looking for those who will move with Him when there are no signs of any life or resources, and all conditions are not favorable for what we want or need. He wants us to respond to his word alone, and by this faith, dig the ditch of you will. Prepare a receptacle for what we seek Him for.
